The Role of Museums in a Digital World – Attracting Youth and Overcoming COVID19 Obstacle

AB  - In the world of digital technology, overwhelmed with information and content, digitalization is often perceived as a process of alienation. This article will challenge that perception and demonstrate that digital museums actually present a unique opportunity to develop interest in art and attracting people not only to art in general but to on-site cultural institutions as well. Digital museums can, among other roles, assume the role of interpreting cultural heritage, but are also the best way to attract a young au- dience to art. This article examines the opportunities provided by digital technology for museums in terms of communication and dissemination of knowledge. The particular emphasis will be on the use of digital collections as well as on connecting and interacting with the public, particularly with a young au- dience. If there was any doubt about the importance and influence of digital museums, the COVID-19 pandemic was a final proof that digital museums have a much greater value than is generally admitted, and that they have become an indispensable part of the overall museum experience in all museums that have been able to develop them as a part of overall museum strategy.

AB  - Уметничка  делатност,  као  виталан  део  креативне  економије,  представља  значајан  покретач економског  раста  и  развоја.  Интензивна  дигитализација  је  условила  динамичне  промене  у  свим  аспектима пословања уметника, а пре свега у домену унапређења видљивости и повећања прихода. Савремене дигиталне технологије пружају бројне могућности за унапређење пословања међу којима се посебно истичу друштвене мреже,  а  пре  свега  Instagram.  Према  извештају  Hiscok  2020,  Instagram је у свету уметности значајан канал друштвених медија и незаобилазна платформа за куповину и истраживање, а посебно су на њој активни нови и миленијумски купци. Циљ овог рада је да анализира на који начин коришћење Instagramа утиче на пословање, односно пре свега на повећање прихода уметника у Србији. Истраживање је спроведено применом анкетног упитника  на  узорку  од  30  уметника  чланова  Удружења  ликовних  уметника  Србије  и  Удружења  ликовних уметника  примењених  уметности  и  дизајнера  Србије.  Резултати  истраживања  су  показали  да  је  Instagram ефикасан  али  недовољно  искоришћен  начин  коришћења  дигиталних  технологија  у  циљу  унапређења пословања уметника у Србији, а посебно у домену унапређења продаје.

Instagram and artistic platforms as revenue streams for artists in Serbia

AB  - Digitalization and development of a digital marketing strategy as a way to attract the (particularly young) audience is a prerequisite for modern artists. The COVID-19 pandemic emphasized this need even more, but even without pandemics, it is very hard for an artist to reach its public and to present its work to a wider range of audiences without utilizing digital tools. In this article, the author will present some possibilities available for artists to improve their visibility and promote their work in a new global digital art market. The importance of understanding the digital world, the audience’s preferences, and digital marketing are crucial for modern artists. The aim of this paper is to analyze the importance of the digital art market for artists in Serbia. The research was conducted using a questionnaire survey focused on 88 artists actively creating and participating in the art world, mostly from Belgrade, Serbia. After a contextualization of data, it is evident that the majority of artists from fail to generate income in the digital art market.

A Female Artpreneur in a Digital Age –Definition, Challenges, and Potential Revenue Streams

AB  - Being an artist present a challenge in a modern world, where more and more activities are happening online and where and entrepreneurial spirit is necessary for the success. Artist, being a specific species, often without an entrepreneurial spirit, find this situation discouraging and difficult. This especially goes to the female artist, that living in patriarchal societies such as ones in Western Balkans, are expected to conduct numerous household chores in addition to the professional life – often on their own. In this article, the author will try to present the situation of a female artpreneur in a digital age by first defining the artpreneur, placing the female entrepreneur in an appropriate digital age and social context and finally, offering potential solution or at least ideas that can contribute to the empowerment of female artpreneurs in Serbia.
