Čitavo događanje otvoreno je koncertom hora Jevrejske opštine Novi Sad – „Hašira“ i izložbom u novosadskoj Sinagogi pod nazivom „Pisanje stradanja: vodič kroz publikacije o Holokaustu“ autorke, Bilјane Albahari i dizajnerke Ornele Rezinović.

prostora i prakse zajedničkog u novobeogradskim blokovima 22 i 45. Prvi cilj ovog rada je da
ispita i objasni promene u kulturi i načinu urbanog stanovanja u novobeogradskim blokovima.
zajednici. Treći cilj ovog istraživanja je ispitivanje i procena dometa kritičkog angažmana
samorganizovanih praksi i komšijskog udruživanja na Novom Beogradu. Konceptualnu i teorijsku
osnovu istraživanja čine Lefevrova teorija proizvodnje društvenog prostora, kritičke teorije
zajedničkih dobara i teorije privatizma. Etnografsko istraživanje novobeogradskih blokova 22 i 45
blokova.
privatizmu i prisvajanju kroz potrošnju i transformaciju, a zatim o privatizmu javnih prostora i
AB - The subject of this study is an anthropological analysis of urban dwelling, everydayness of
social space, and commoning practices in New Belgrade's large housing estates (blocks) 22 and
45. The first goal of this study is to examine and explain changes in the culture and manner of
urban dwelling in New Belgrade. The second goal of this research is to expand the focus of
anthropological research on housing towards the perception of urban dwelling in a broader sense,
inseparable from life in the neighborhood and local community. The third objective of this research
is to examine and evaluate the scope of critical engagement of self-organized practices and
neighborhood engagement in New Belgrade. The conceptual and theoretical basis of the study is
Lefebvre's theory of the production of social space, the critical theory of commons, and the theories
of privatism. The ethnographic research of blocks 22 and 45 was carried out from June 2020 to
December 2021. The research was carried out through three consequent steps: a senso-biographic
walking, participant-generated photo-elicitation, and in-depth interviews at home. Twenty
residents of the researched large housing estates participated in the study.

The interpretation of the results of the empirical part of the research is organized into four parts.
First, the results related to the everyday life of the New Belgrade blocks and housing satisfaction
are interpreted. Then, in the second part, the findings on the refamilification of New Belgrade as
a specific subtype of gentrification of the post-Yugoslav, post-socialist neoliberal city are
presented. In the third part, the insights about dwelling practices in the narrower sense, that is,
about housing privatism and appropriation through consumption and transformation, are
interpreted. After that, the insights about the privatism of public spaces and changes in attitudes
towards common space and property relations resulting from the "give-away" privatization of
public housing stock are discussed. Finally, in the fourth part, insights about neighborhood self-
organization and activism in New Belgrade are presented, and the critical scope of activism based
on the culture of privatism is discussed.

Explanatory Account of the Human Language Faculty: The Developmentalist Challenge and Biolinguistics

AB - The aim of this paper is to explore whether Maria Kronfeldner’s analysis of human nature could be applied to the concept of cognitive systems and related capabilities, such as the human language faculty. Firstly, I will address the nature-nurture debate, that is, explanatory claims of nature as having a role in causing the language ability, and explanatory claims of culture as responsible for the development of human language capabilities. The nature-nurture divide generates a problem since it overlooks the interaction of nature and culture during the development of language capabilities, the problem called the developmentalist challenge. I will demonstrate different standpoints that try to answer this challenge, most famously the constructivist theory of Jean Piaget and the theory of universal grammar of Noam Chomsky. Following the insights of Kronfeldner, if we opt for an explanatory (and not classificatory or descriptive) account of the human language, we will search for the explanatory epistemic roles and their fulfilments. As Kronfeldner states, different sciences search for different differences regarding explanandum, and I hope to show that the integrative interdisciplinary framework dealing with cognitive systems is needed. The conclusion is that biolinguistics is an interdisciplinary field with a necessary unifying potential regarding explanatory account of the human language faculty.
i teoriju univerzalne gramatike Noama Čomskog.

A New Climate for Human Nature? Navigating Social Theory through Postnature, the Anthropocene and Posthumanism

AB - By examining debates on the Anthropocene era ignited by new materialist and posthumanist scholarship, this paper aims to discern how these perspectives can reframe the human-nature nexus. It also considers how various “developmentalist” approaches might assume the role traditionally held by the concept of human nature. The first section highlights concerns raised by posthumanist and neomaterialist scholars about the marginalized status of “nature”, life, and biology within dominant constructivist viewpoints. A central argument posits that notions like “denaturalization” and biopolitics amplify societal dominance over nature, pushing social theory towards an anthropocentric and potentially biologically indeterminate stance. Contrasting this, the second section delves into modern interpretations of the planet in social theory, inspired by the emergence of the Anthropocene. This lens reveals a dynamic, co-constitutive relationship, tilting less towards the unilateral commands of “nature” and more towards understanding the evolution of human life and societal structures within Earth’s expansive temporal and spatial realms. The third section further unpacks these developmental ideas by juxtaposing the theories of Bruno Latour and Tim Ingold. The paper contends that both approaches endeavor to illuminate the complex processes underpinning the evolution of life forms, underscoring the significance of culture. In conclusion, the intricate postnatural landscape of the Anthropocene necessitates a more integrated human-nature relationship. This calls for not only discarding dehumanizing facets of human nature, but also fostering a renewed sensibility – a deeper form of humanizing that acknowledges and celebrates our shared existence with other species and entities.
statusa „prirode“, života i biologije unutar dominantnih konstruktivističkih gledišta. Centralni dominaciju nad prirodom, gurajući socijalnu teoriju prema antropocentričnom i potencijalno
biološki neodređenom stavu. Nasuprot tome, drugi deo se bavi modernim tumačenjima planete u socijalnoj teoriji, inspirisanim pojavom antropocena. Kroz ovu perspektivu otkriva se
dinamična, ko-konstitutivna veza, koja manje naginje jednostranom diktatu „prirode“ a više
ka razumevanju evolucije ljudskog života i društvenih struktura unutar prostranih vremenskih i prostornih domena Zemlje. Treći deo dalje razrađuje ove razvojne ideje upoređujući
teorije Bruna Latura i Tima Ingolda. Rad tvrdi da oba pristupa teže osvetljavanju složenih
procesa koji stoje u osnovi evolucije životnih oblika, naglašavajući značaj kulture. Zaključno,
složeni postprirodni pejzaž antropocena zahteva integrisaniji odnos čoveka i prirode.
postojanje s drugim vrstama i entitetima

Deploying Kronfeldner’s Concept of Human Nature in Archaeology

AB - This essay represents a reflection on the role and relevance of the concept of human nature in archaeology, inspired by the ideas about human nature presented and elaborated by Maria Kronfeldner in the book What’s Left of Human Nature?. It is a comment from an archaeologist’s perspective. Kronfeldner formulated three ways in which human nature can be conceptualized: classificatory, descriptive and explanatory human nature. In the text, I review the archaeological and anthropological topics for which the three aspects of human nature are relevant. In the first part, I address the problems related to the concepts of classificatory and descriptive human nature in the late Pleistocene, when Homo sapiens was not the only species of the genus Homo on the planet. In the second part, I discuss the role of human nature from the epistemological position when it comes to the theoretical basis of reconstructing human behavior in the past and the more general anthropological issue of establishing cross-cultural regularities and laws. This is by no means a comprehensive and detailed survey of the potentially relevant topics, but it should illustrate the usefulness and relevance of Kronfeldner’s concepts for the fields of archaeology and anthropology.
osnovu ideja o ljudskoj prirodi koje je formulisala Marija Kronfeldner u knjizi What’s Left of
Human Nature.
i antropologija.

In it, I am chiefly concerned with two things: the role that other animals are afforded in discussions about and attempts at defining “human nature”, and a critique of the concept of nature that is utilized in the book. Furthermore, I view science as storytelling practice, and scholarly narratives about “human nature” as important stories in order to pose the question of accountability of telling such stories in the Anthropocene.

Intercultural Communication In Contemporary Art: From Provocation To Integration

AB - The article analyzes the forms of transmission of cultural values (meanings) through modern works of art. The novelty of the approach to artistic creation lies in it being studied both as a result of intercultural communication and as a means of conveying cultural meanings. The purpose of this article is to identify, analyze and describe the forms of transmission of values through works of contemporary art. The author identifies three forms of value translation in art: provocation, similarity, integration. Provocation means that the artist shows the interaction of the values of different cultures, focusing on their hostility and inconsistency. As an example, an art object is given by a Russian artist living in America, a representative of Sots Art A.S. Kosolapov “Lenin – Coca-Cola.” Similarity, on the contrary, is a form that demonstrates the proximity of meanings, the search for common ground in the value systems of society. This thesis is visualized by the sculptures of Buddha and Christ by the Chinese artist Zhang Huan. The third form of translation of values in art is designated as integration, when the work expresses values that are universal for all peoples: a clean environment, security, peace, health, freedom, justice and others. The works of the winners of the Venice Biennale 2019 (opera-performance “Sun and Sea (Marina) ” by the Lithuanian National Pavilion and “White Album” by American cinematographer Arthur Jafa) are given as an example. It is concluded that art, thanks to its supranational, symbolic and universal language, is able to build intercultural communication between peoples.
objekat daje ruski umetnik koji živi u Americi, predstavnik Sots Art-a A. S. Kosolapov „Lenjin
– Koka-Kola“.
radovi pobednika Venecijanskog bijenala 2019. godine (opera-predstava „Sunce i more (Marina)“ Litvanskog nacionalnog paviljona i „Beli album“ američkog snimatelja Artura Jafe).

abstract = "The article analyzes the forms of transmission of cultural values (meanings) through modern works of art. What is Wrong with Anti-Paternalism?

AB - The article scrutinizes anti-paternalistic arguments concerning the best judgements, the autonomy and the moral status of persons. The first two have been criticized by Quong as inadequate, and the article attempts to point out the shortcomings of this critique. The best judgement argument can be reformulated, having in mind particular situations in which person’s own judgement should be considered as decisive. The autonomy argument cannot be disregarded as too permissive regarding paternalism as it allows paternalistic interventions, which are weak and confined only to a strictly limited scope. Also, when considered as the condition for the validity of choice, autonomy cannot be treated as an ultimate value. Finally, the moral status argument proposed by Quong is plausible to some extent, when claiming that it is presumptively wrong to treat persons as not having equal moral powers. However, this argument does not cover the legitimate institutional policies in specific cases when it can be reasonably presumed that people will omit to act in favour of their well-being. Also, this argument would prohibit any interventions in order to increase availability of goods, even if the moral status of the persons is not affected.
i moralni status osobe.

AB - This paper spells out the ways in which we need to be pluralists about “human nature”. It discusses a conceptual pluralism about the concept of “human nature”, stemming from post-essentialist ontology and the semantic complexity of the term “nature”; a descriptive pluralism about the “descriptive nature” of human beings, which is a pluralism regarding our self-understanding as human beings that stems from the long list of typical features of, and relations between, human beings; a natural kind term pluralism, which is a pluralism that concerns the choices we have in deciding how to apply the kind term “human”; and an explanatory pluralism that results from the causal complexity of life. Because of the complexity of being human, which gives rise to these pluralisms, being human is, the paper claims, a kaleidoscopic affair, and one far from concerning the life sciences only.

ontologije i semantičke složenosti pojma „priroda“; deskriptivni pluralizam „deskriptivne prirode“ ljudskih bića, odnosno pluralizam u pogledu našeg samorazumevanja kao ljudskih bića

The Narrative of Amanda Labarca and the Criollismo: Notes for Inserting it into Chilean Literary History (Or Narrating It To Depict And Change Chile)

AB - This paper explores a set of narratives that the writer, educator and feminist leader Amanda Labarca published in the first quarter of the 20th century, namely the novel En tierras extrañas (1915), the short novel La lámpara maravillosa and the collection of stories Cuentos a mi señor (both 1921). We are interested in inscribing this corpus of Labarca’s work mainly in the criollismo, thought of as the Latin American and Chilean literary sensibility of the first half of the 20th century. With this, we contribute to the studies that have set out to explore one of Labarca’s most unknown areas: her literature. Specifically, it traces the spirit that runs through these texts, emphasizing the typification of discourses, characters and social contexts that allow sustaining the proposal of analyzing this prose from the point of view of criollismo. Indeed, the results show the presence of several characteristics of this trend, such as the presence of the peripheral or marginal element, the traveler as protagonist or the enhancement of local customs. It is concluded that Labarca’s lyrics dialogue with the proposals of Chilean criollismo, although they are also inspired by other aesthetic and ideological proposals of her time.

AB - The scholarship on ‘movement parties’ – parties originating from social movements – shows great variation among them in terms of origin, ideological profile, organizational forms and adopted strategies. Typically, they depart from participatory practices and contribute to participatory turns in politics. However, there is scant research on how movement parties maintain those principles and procedures once they enter the institutional arena. Moreover, the question of intra-party democracy (IPD) is itself rarely researched, particularly in Southeast Europe (SEE), a region dominated by authoritarian centralized parties. Therefore, this chapter aims to contribute to the growing literature on party movements by focusing on SEE and looking into their party movements’ internal democracy practices. We take examples of two ideologically similar democratic movement parties, MOŽEMO! (We Can) from Croatia and Zeleno-levi front (Green-Left Front) from Serbia. Both originated as bottom-up green-left movements within political settings dominated by right-wing political narratives but in differing national contexts regarding the quality of democracy. This chapter presents an analysis of MOŽEMO! and Zeleno-levi front statutory documents, focusing primarily on their articulation of participatory principles for IPD.

This chapter presents an analysis of MOŽEMO! and Zeleno-levi front statutory documents, focusing primarily on their articulation of participatory principles for IPD.",

The Integrative Potential of Contemporary Perspectives on the Nature/Culture Conceptual Relationship

AB - In this paper, I analyze and compare Maria Kronfeldner’s and Tim Ingold’s views on the conceptual relationship between nature and culture. I show that despite the differences, their views remain close particularly in terms of their integrative potential. The ultimate purpose of this examination is to lay the groundwork for further research on the problem of conceptual integration between sociocultural anthropology and evolutionary psychology. The paper comprises four main sections. First, I briefly explore the history of Darwinism to show how nature and culture were conceptualized within this framework. Second, I deal with Kronfeldner’s separationist stance and Ingold’s holistic perspective on the nature/culture conceptual relationship. Third, I discuss the implications of their views on the choice of research heuristics in the sciences that study human nature and cultures. While I interpret Ingold as supporting methodological integration, Kronfelder argues for a version of integrative pluralism. Lastly, I provide an outlook for further discussions on conceptual integration and integrative pluralism.
AB - U ovom radu analiziram i upoređujem tvrdnje Marie Kronfeldner i Tima Ingolda o konceptualnom odnosu prirode i kulture. Pokazujem da uprkos razlikama, njihovi stavovi ostaju bliski,
posebno u pogledu njihovog integrativnog potencijala.
antropologije i evolucione psihologije.
i kulture.
pluralizma.

Butler Traveling East: On Practices of Reading and Translating

AB - Theories travel, and their destinations matter. Instead of dwelling on what happens to them while they journey, the article seeks to understand how theories enter different circumstances, what facilitates or obstructs their mobility and what is the context in which they land. It proposes to consider how Judith Butler’s theories traveled to the East of Europe, more particularly to Serbia and the Balkans. The article proceeds diachronically, from the mid-1980s to today, considering the era of wars and the breakup of Yugoslavia, the transitional 2000s, and the consciously postsocialist 2010s. This trajectory appears on the background of the practices of reading and translating Butler’s works, situating the post-Yugoslavs in the wider context of Eastern Europe. The way we incorporated Butler in our knowledge production about ourselves is presented as a living archive of particular Eastern feminist quests: a search for language, a search for an identity, and lastly, a search for a political position. Ultimately, the text functions as a call for a we – a distinctly “Eastern European feminist we” – and a bid for coalitional thinking through cultural translation and pedagogy of trouble.

Josef Albers’ Methodology 'Learning through Conscious Practice' As a Teaching Form for Education in Architecture

AB - The paper discuss the methodological turn that was brought by the pedagogical practice
of Josef Albers at the Bauhaus from 1923 to 1933. This period is observed as the formative
platform of Albers’ teaching model, which generated all his later artistic and pedagogical
engagements. Although Albers’ courses were part of the training in a design-art school that changed
its curricula several times over ten years, the emphasis here is placed on the intention of the
Bauhaus to conceive design education as an (interdisciplinary) collaboration and as an anticipation
of a new form of creativity directed toward the building “that would embrace architecture and
sculpture and painting in one unity.” Albers taught the preliminary course (Vorkurs) that preceded
the craft-studies workshops and was intended to prepare students for the “conscious” treatment
of materials. The written reflections on learning methods, which Albers developed while teaching
in Vorkurs, expose the key notions of his forward-thinking pedagogical approach that is situated
between material form, design education and architecture.

AB - This chapter tackled the reception of Dewey’s work in different political eras of an other-than-Western context, namely, that of former Yugoslavia and Serbia. The chapter shows how different ideological positioning of the state politics in different eras, within a relatively short time line, informed the reading, interpretation and application of Dewey’s work. The lessons for an emancipatory classroom practice is the consideration of how ideological and political positioning of any country/state informs the reception of any ideas, whether they are deemed emancipatory or not.

AB - The triangle of crisis-education-emancipation seems to represent a stable both conceptual and historical constant, which then appears in almost countless modes, depending on how those three always co-defining terms are understood. We have offered, a cogent and representative, albeit not all-encompassing or exhaustive, spectrum of these understandings—sometimes they seem so different that it might be more appropriate to talk about all these pivotal concepts in the plural: about educations, emancipations and crises. Nevertheless, we decided to gather them all around or within a processual figure that is marked by the insight into the crisis, the will for emancipation, and the vision of emancipatory or emancipated education. We believe monistic structure and its over-determinants will not cloud the readers’ view of the presented plurality of their manifestations.

Does Education Require Emancipation? A Historical Analysis

AB - The conventional framing of the relation of education and emancipation asks what kind of education is in place, possible, or desirable for some specific emancipatory goal. This question draws on a long and important tradition, advocacy for and sometimes even assumption of education as liberatory. In this view, acquisition of knowledge is ipso facto beneficial. The aim of this text is to probe the nature and viability of the emancipatory potential ascribed to knowledge. To that end, the chapter first sketches a model of the emancipatory conception of education, before calling it into question, that is, criticizing the instrumentalization of education for emancipation. The final considerations revolve around the question whether it is not better to emancipate education from the requirement of emancipation as well, rather than educate having a specific, set emancipatory aim in mind at the outset. Put bluntly—and to give the problem a “dialectic” twist—is it not better to conceive of education not through emancipation, but as emancipation itself, thus equating the terms?

To that end, the chapter first sketches a model of the emancipatory conception of education, before calling it into question, that is, criticizing the instrumentalization of education for emancipation. The final considerations revolve around the question whether it is not better to emancipate education from the requirement of emancipation as well, rather than educate having a specific, set emancipatory aim in mind at the outset. Put bluntly—and to give the problem a “dialectic” twist—is it not better to conceive of education not through emancipation, but as emancipation itself, thus equating the terms?",

AB - Emancipation implies that there exists some kind of docu mented or experienced lack of freedom/equality or some state of slavery or oppression, and represents the act or process of liberation, throwing off the yoke and empowering the subjugated, although the yokes can be very different. It is a voluntary act or process that is often seen as a return to a state of natural freedom from a state of unfreedom. It is an act or process that frees one from the power of another, whether it is slavery, subjugation, dependence or control. The concept gradually evolved to encompass freedom from all forms of oppression. What were once seen as partial “emancipations” have been elevated to a universal call for the “social emancipation” of humanity, championed by reformers and revolutionaries worldwide.
