AB  - Oslonjeni pre svega na analize i sugestije Ransijera i Levi-Strosa, autori rada nastoje da izlože kritiku hijerarhijski vrednovanih orijentira putovanja i obrazovanja. Prvi deo rada posvećen je zapadnim putnicima i njihovom „civilizatorskom“ odnosu prema drugim, dotad nepoznatim, predelima i narodima. Drugim delom rada ustanovljava se analogni obrazac i kada je reč o odnosu koji se uspostavlja u obrazovnom procesu, u kojem takođe novo i nepoznato valja savladati, osvojiti i pokoriti neupitnim znanjem. U zaključku se sugeriše mogućnost dekonstrukcije predefinisanog poretka civilizacije i/ili znanja, ne bi li se najavila mogućnost afirmisanja razlike, bez dominacije i učenja, bez jednoznačnog objašnjenja; mogućnost koja bi možda mogla da se ostvari s odstupanjem od iluzije o univerzalnoj merodavnosti Znanja i njegovog posednika.
AB  - Relying primarily on the analyses and suggestions by Rancière and Lévi-Strauss, the authors of this paper endeavour to present a critique of the hierarchically valued landmarks of travelling and education. The first part of the paper is dedicated to Western travellers and their ‘civilising’ treatment of other landscapes and peoples, previously unknown. The second part of the paper identifies an analogous pattern when it comes to relationship established in the educational process, where the new and the unknown also have to be mastered, conquered, and subdued by unquestionable knowledge. The conclusion suggests the possibility of deconstructing the predefined system of civilisation and/or knowledge, with a view to creating the possibility for the affirmation of differences without domination, as well as learning without an unambiguous explanation, a possibility that may perhaps materialise with the abandoning of the illusion about the universal authority of Knowledge and its possessor.

Which Public, Whose Affair: The Aporia of Republic(anism)

AB  - The Republic always represented a certain emancipatory idea, a password, 
or a flag, which stood up against imperial tyranny (Rome) or hereditary 
monarchy (France). But that performance was neither unison nor 
monochrome. Perhaps the purest, ideal-type representation of the republic, 
with all the paradoxes and/or contradictions of its discourse, is offered by a 
republic that in the political sense could not be called by that name, or 
perhaps it was just a crypto-political republic, a so-called metaphor of the
republic that, all the more, reveals its constitutive fragility. Respublica 
literaria is not a „real" republic, but it is not a complete chimera either: it 
had its members, but no citizenship that guarantees anything. It did not 
have its territorial boundaries, but it also knew how to limit the conditions 
of belonging to it – by proving a standard that we could maybe call 
intellectualistic, but a standard that was engaged inside communication. 
This is the contradiction we would like to expose in this paper. The fact that 
Respublica literaria consistently, to the point of paroxysm, followed the 
principle that it is not a private but a public matter and that this occurred 
alongside the fact that the public space, or the space of that public, was very 
limited, and more transparently indicated than usual. The characteristic not 
only of that republic but something like perhaps the fate of each: the first 
act of the French republic was the closing of the borders, similar to the 
Soviet one. The question is therefore whether the republic can exist in a

universal way or whether it implies exclusion. And vice versa, is the act of 
demarcation inevitable when establishing a republic that otherwise aspires 
to universality

AB  - Rad predstavlja svojevrsnu apologiju humanitarizma. U njemu se navode motivi i argumenti koji ga suprotstavljaju humanizmu. Prvi dio rada posvećen je, međutim, njihovom zajedničkom povijesnom nastupu – ne bi li se uočilo da se ne mogu neproturječno smatrati istovjetnim ili nadopunjavajućim. Drugi dio rada izlaže glavne tipove suvremene kritike humanizma i proishodećih “ideologija”, dok se u trećem dijelu rada, nadovezujući se na njih, ilustrativno zagovara humanitaristička alternativa kao protuotrov humanističkoj “aroganciji”. U završnom dijelu rada iskušavaju se dileme i granice važenja humanitarizma, ne bi li se, u protustavu prema humanizmu, odredila domena njegovog prava i predložio jedan njegov odmjeren – korektivni i regulatorni – diskurzivni i djelatni status.
AB  - The work represents a kind of apology for humanitarianism. It states the motives and arguments that oppose it to humanism. However, the first part of the work is dedicated to their joint historical appearance––to notice that they cannot be considered identical or complementary without contradiction. The second part of the paper presents the main types of contemporary criticism of humanism and the resulting “ideologies” while the third part of the paper, building on them, illustratively advocates a humanitarian alternative as an antidote to humanistic “arrogance.” In the final part of the work, the dilemmas and limits of the validity of humanitarianism are tested to determine the domain of its right in opposition to humanism and propose its well-measured––corrective and regulatory––discursive and effective status.

i putovanja i rekonstruišu razlozi njihovog povezivanja. Potom se metafori putovanja
suprotstavlja metafora lutanja – upravo da bi se istakao njen previđan, zaboravljan
ili zanemarivan, ali makar podjednako dragocen obrazovni potencijal. Najzad se sugeriše
napuštanje vizije unapred konačno određenog skupa vrednosti koje zastupa obrazovanje,
u korist otvaranja mogućnosti koje diverzitet njegovih putanja pruža. Kritičkom analizom
razumevanja putovanja Odiseja, Rusoovog Emila, Robinzona Krusoa, kao analogona
obrazovne avanture, pokazuje se da nije ni uputno ni plodonosno besprizivno usvojiti i
slediti obrazac po kome su početak obrazovanja (tačka polaska) i njegov cilj (tačka dolaska
ili odredište) strogo definisani, naročito ukoliko on podrazumeva isključenje svakog odstupanja
od trajektorije koja spaja „ishodište” i „odredište“. Inspiraciju i svojevrsnu šifru
za alternativni model obrazovne procedure, kojim bi se izbegle manjkavosti njenog shvatanja
kao manje ili više pravolinijskog i jednodimenzionalnog transfera znanja i veština,
autori pronalaze u deridijanskom poimanju derive.
AB  - Different educational paradigms are often represented by the same metaphor:
the metaphor of a journey. In the first part of the paper, typical examples of equating
education with travelling are presented and the underlying reasons for their connection
are reconstructed. Then, the metaphor of wandering is contrasted with that of travelling –

AB  - U ovom radu autori nastoje da ponude pregled različitih učenja koja se
svrstavaju pod kapu humanizma. Mada se rad prevashodno usredsređuje na humani-
stičke doktrine, teoriju humanizma često nije jednostavno razlučiti od huma-
nizma u praksi, te će svakako biti referisano na različite praktične programe
humanizma. I u jednom i u drugom slučaju ispostavlja se da je humanizam toliko
razuđen, ako ne i bezobalan pojam, da je možda uputnije govoriti o humanizmima, u
množini. Iako jedan pregledni članak ne može da predoči podrobnu i sveobuhvatnu
istoriju (ideje) humanizma i sve varijacije kroz koje je on prošao i prolazi kod
svojih značajnih zastupnika, autori veruju da čitaocima može pružiti osnov za
razumevanje i okvir za dalja istraživanja i promišljanja humanizma/humanizama.
AB  - In this paper, the authors have offered an overview of various teachings that fall
under the umbrella of humanism. Although the paper primarily focuses on the humanist
doctrine, it is often not easy to distinguish the theory of humanism from humanism in
practice. In both cases, it turns out that humanism is such a wide-ranging concept that
perhaps it is instructive to talk about humanisms instead. Although a single review article
cannot present a detailed and comprehensive history of (the idea of) humanism and all
the variations it has gone through, the authors believe that this work can provide readers
with a basis for understanding and a framework for further research and reflection on
humanism/humanisms.

AB  - Рад излаже историју саморазумевања човека пратећи промене кроз које је пролазило разумевање митског сусрета Едипа и Сфинге. Прво се детектује образац према коме модерна у Едипу препознаје и слави тријумф човека над природом и његово одговарајуће уздизање у сувереног субјекта. Средишњи део рада нуди преглед савремених (ре)интерпретација Сфингиног наслеђа које сугеришу пожељност или неопходност „нове митологије”. Оне врхуне у налазу да је Едип, у компулзивном настојању да потпуно рашчара свет, прогнао сваку тајну и занос из њега, па је дошло доба за његово „поновно зачаравање”. Завршни део рада искушава и препоручује трећу стратегију: просветитељско демитологизовање просветитељства као последњег мита, разоткривење да је Едип тајна Сфинге, да је она његов конструкт. Стога је на њему да преузме одговорност за пројекције произашле из несигурности у властити идентитет и статус у свету, уместо да митским
представама обнавља образац непријатељског држања према природи и свему различитом од себе.
AB  - The paper seeks to signalize the history of human self-understanding through the changes that the mythical encounter between Oedipus and the Sphinx underwent. First, a pattern is detected according to which the modern in Oedipus recognizes and celebrates the triumph of man over nature and his corresponding elevation into a sovereign subject. The central part of the paper offers an overview of contemporary (re)interpretations that restore the right to the Sphinx and suggest the desirability or necessity of a “new mythology”. The finding is that Oedipus, in a compulsive endeavour to completely disenchant the world, banished every secret
and ecstasy from it, so the time has come for its “re-enchantment”. The final part of the paper tests and recommends a third strategy: the Enlightenment’s demythologization of the Enlightenment as the last myth, revealing that Oedipus is the secret of the Sphinx, his construct. That is why it is his responsibility for insecurity into his own identity and status in the world not to move narcissistically onto projections of everything different from himself that he has subjugated or will subjugate, but, for the sake of both himself and the world, less intimidated, more peacefully and in solidarity approach to it.

AB  - U ovom članku se moderne dileme razumevanja pojedinca izlažu kroz jednu scenu filma "Brianov život" (Life of Brian, Terry Jones, 1979). Brianov govor okupljenim sledbenicima i reakcije na njega, na tipičan i duhovit način reprezentuju konceptualne nevolje kako prosvetiteljske "ideologije individualizma" koja pojedinca suprotstavlja i pretpostavlja kolektivu tako i njenog nejednoznačnag nastavka u romantičarskom favorizovanju "individualnosti". Posebna pažnja se pritom posvećuje dinamičnoj putanji kojom je istovremeno i forsirana i proširivana posebnost pojedinačne ličnosti, sve do njenog utapanja u nadlične entitete. U
zaključku se sugeriše da se savremeno shvatanje "pojedinca" i po cenu paradoksa koji svedoči o njegovoj krhkoj teorijskoj konstrukciji, sa "poslednje nedeljivosti" pomerilo ka negaciji svake podvedenosti, uključujući i onu koja ga afirmiše.

AB  - Rad problematizuje opravdanost „postističkih“ revizija humanizma. U prvom delu rada izlaže se ona misaona linija razumevanja čoveka koja čoveka vidi kao hronično manjkavog za vlastitu „prirodu“ ili „suštinu“ i koja od te neukorenjenosti gradi njegov privilegovan status. Drugi deo rada posvećen je odnosu transhumanizma i kritičkog posthumanizma prema humanizmu. Nalazi se da transhumanizam skladno nastavlja i/ili radikalizuje humanistički projekt samotvoračkog i samotranscendirajućeg čoveka, dok kritički posthumanizam radije zagovara ponovno promišljanje i redeskripiciju čoveka s obzirom na ono što smatra da su bile pogubne posledice humanizma. Zaključni deo rada detektuje izvesnu proizvoljnost u razumevanju humanizma njegovih kritičara, podseća da su se i unutar humanizma baštinili kritički momenti kao njegov vlastiti sadržaj i korektiv, te da su možda suvišne objave radikalnih rezova i raskida sa humanističkom tradicijom. Sugeriše se jedno sinoptičko sagledavanje humanističkih orijentira i njihovih posthumanističkih osuda, koje bi uvažilo i baštinu humanističke misli i obavezu njenog kritičkog preispitivanja.
AB  - This paper problematises the justification of ‘postist’ revisions of humanism. In
the first part of the paper, a line of thought that persistently marks the self-perception of man is presented. It stretches from Plato, through Pico della Mirandola and
Kant, all the way to existentialism and philosophical anthropology in the twentieth
century. In it, man is understood as chronically deficient in their own ‘nature’ or
‘essence’, and his privileged status is built from this rootlessness. The second part
of the paper is dedicated to the relationship of transhumanism and critical posthumanism to humanism. Transhumanism is found to harmoniously continue and/or
radicalise the humanist project of self-creating and self-transcending man, while
critical posthumanism advocates a rethinking and redescription of man in view
of what are considered to have been the disastrous consequences of humanism: a
transgression in relation to everything different from man by anthropomorphising
it and anthropocentrically measuring it against himself. The concluding part of the
paper detects a certain arbitrariness in the understanding of humanism by its critics,
reminds that even within such a broadly understood humanism, critical moments
have been inherited as its own content and corrective, and that announcements of
radical cuts and ruptures with the humanistic tradition are perhaps redundant. It
is also noted that something non-negligible has changed with the contemporary
challenges of technoscience – artificial intelligence, informatics, robotics –but it is
contested that this change in social history requires a cardinal rejection, change or
neglect of the intellectual heritage that enables responses to it and/or a rational dispute about it. A synoptic overview of humanist landmarks and their post-humanist
condemnations is suggested, which would respect the heritage of humanist thought
and the right or even the obligation built into it of its critical review
AB  - L’article problématise le bien-fondé des révisions « postistes » de l’humanisme. Dans la première partie de ce travail est exposée cette ligne de pensée
qui conçoit l’homme comme chroniquement incomplet dans sa propre « nature
» ou « essence » et qui de ce déracinement construit son statut privilégié. La
deuxième partie de ce travail est consacrée au rapport du transhumanisme et du
posthumanisme critique envers l’humanisme. Il est démontré que le transhumanisme continue et/ou radicalise harmonieusement le projet humaniste de
l’homme autocréateur et autotranscendant, alors que le transhumanisme critique
préfère opter pour le réexamen et la redescription de l’homme étant donné ce
qu’il considère comme les conséquences néfastes de l’humanisme. La partie
conclusive de l’article détecte un certain arbitraire dans la compréhension de
l’humanisme de la part de ses critiques, rappelle qu’à l’intérieur de l’humanisme s’étaient aussi développés des éléments critiques qui faisaient partie de
son propre contenu et de son correctif, enfin que les annonces des séparations
et ruptures radicales avec la tradition humaniste sont peut-être superflues. Il est
suggéré qu’une analyse synoptique des repères humanistes et de leurs condamnations posthumanistes, prendrait en compte et le patrimoine de la pensée humaniste et l’obligation de son réexamen critique

AB  - Тема рада је историјска дебата око феномена тзв. индустрије Холокауста. У основи ове дебате налазе се питања „централности", јединствености, универзализације, американизације и инструментализације Шое. Након горуће јавне контроверзе, последично уништених каријера и политичког збијања редова, та питања остала су да лебде као претећи означитељи Zeitgeista савремене културе сећања, као отворена прича о етичности репрезентације Холокауста.
AB  - In three books published at the turn of the millennium, the authors talk about the phenomenon of the pronounced presence and significance of the Holocaust in American society: Hilene Flanzbaum’s Americanization of the Holocaust (1999), Peter Novick’s Holocaust in American Life (1999) and Norman Finkelstein’s The Holocaust Industry: Reflections on the Exploitation of Jewish Suffering (2000). These works describe (and criticize) the post-Holocaust memorial world which is characterized by the commodification, commercialization and instrumentalization of the culture of remembrance. Even though each of these authors invoked/understood the term differently, the effect of their works was the introduction of the term „Holocaust industry“ into the public discourse. Today, it has has become an umbrella metaphor for a whole range of practices that represent the instrumentalization, commercialization and commodification of Holocaust remembrance. The paper deals with the process of (politicaleconomic) instrumentalization of the Holocaust, its normalization, naturalization, normativization and mechanization – in Western societies – and criticism of that process. The aim of the paper is to shed light on what is meant by the Holocaust industry and to open space for further reflection and problematization of the Holocaust discourse in the light of the warning that its current commodification and industrialization sends us.

AB  - Rad ukazuje na nepomirljive razlike i unutrašnje tenzije koje pod terminom „republika“ baštini, prevashodno, njoj naklonjeni osamnaesti vek. Ta nesaglasja i ambivalencije, koje u dobroj meri određuju i savremenu teoriju, izlažu se, redom, kroz razumevanja republike u prosvetiteljstvu, romantizmu, republikanizmu i u tradiciji „Republike ljudi od pera“. Zaključuje se da emancipatorski potencijal koji 
se investira(o) u republiku, ako i ima istu ili sličnu tačku otpora – recimo: monarhiju, crkvenu dominaciju društvenim životom, ono što se nekad jezgrovitom krilaticom nazivalo „tron i oltar“, ukidanje privatizovanih i/ili partikularnih monopola odlučivanja i svih zabluda, predrasuda, te autoriteta koji ih ozakonjuju – uopšte nema ni približno istu ili sličnu viziju poželjnog stanja pošto se prevrat odigra, odnosno u ime čega se ustanovljuje republika.

Those disagreements and ambivalences, which determine modern theory to a good extent, are presented, respectively, through understandings of the republic in the Enlightenment, romanticism, republicanism and in the tradition of the ‘republic of letters’. It is concluded that the emancipatory potential that is invested in the republic, if it has the same or a similar point of resistance – for example: monarchy, church domination of social life, what was once called the concise catchphrase ‘throne and altar’, the abolition of privatized and/or particular decision-making monopolies and all misconceptions, prejudices, and the authorities that legitimize them – did not have at all the same or a similar vision of the desirable state after the coup has taken place, that is, in the name of what the republic should be established.

Мада се рад превасходно усредсређује на хуманистичке доктрине, теорију хуманизма често није једноставно разлучити од хуманизма у пракси, те ће свакако бити реферисано на различите практичне програме хуманизма. И у једном и у другом случају испоставља се да је хуманизам толико разуђен, ако не и безобалан појам, да је можда упутније говорити о хуманизмима, у множини. Иако један прегледни чланак не може да предочи подробну и свеобухватну историју (идеје) хуманизма и све варијације кроз које је он прошао и пролази код својих значајних заступника, аутори верују да читаоцима може пружити основ за разумевање и оквир за даља истраживања и промишљања хуманизма/хуманизама.
AB  - In this paper, the authors have offered an overview of various teachings that fall
under the umbrella of humanism. Although the paper primarily focuses on the humanist doctrine, it is often not easy to distinguish the theory of humanism from humanism in practice. In both cases, it turns out that humanism is such a wide-ranging concept that perhaps it is instructive to talk about humanisms instead. Although a single review article cannot present a detailed and comprehensive history of (the idea of) humanism and all the variations it has gone through, the authors believe that this work can provide readers with a basis for understanding and a framework for further research and reflection on humanism/humanisms.
