AB  - U tekstu se analizira pojam uživanja u periodu od V – III v. pre nove ere,
odnosno razvoj i shvatanje ovog pojma od njegove prve zvanične upotrebe u filozofskim raspravama kod Kirenjana, sve do epikurejskih rasprava koje uživanju daju privilegovan status. Platonova razmišljanja o uživanju svakako nisu od suštinskog interesa u njegovim delima, ali ovde su ukratko analizirana jer mogu da doprinesu potpunijem razumevanju odnosa prema uživanju koje je tada preovladavalo. Tekst bi trebalo da nam, pored istorijske perspektive različitih tumačenja i shvatanja uživanja, ponudi i izvesnu apologiju epikurejskog razumevanja uživanja. Posebnu pomoć u tome pruža nam hipoteza prema kojoj Epikur uživanje ne shvata kao mentalno stanje, već kao afektivnu komponentu odgovarajućih mentalnih stanja.
AB  - In this paper, we analyze the concept of pleasure in the period from 5th to 3rd century BC, and the development and understanding of this concept, from its officially first use in the Cyrenean philosophical discourses, up to the Epicurean discussions, which give pleasure a privileged status. Plato’s thoughts on pleasure are certainly not of any essential interest in his writings, but they are analyzed briefly here, because they may contribute to the more complete understanding of the attitude towards pleasure that was dominant in his time. This paper should yield, in addition to a historical perspective concerning the various interpretations and accounts of pleasure, a certain apology of the Epicurean account of pleasure. A hypothesis may be especially helpful, according to which Epicurus does not conceive pleasure as a mental state, but rather as an affective component of the corresponding mental states

Learning the Unknown: the Potential of Liminal Space for Adult Education

AB  - The following paper is an attempt to speculate about the potential of liminality
for adult learning by relating it to the existing concept of the “pedagogy of the event”
which challenges the imperative for pedagogy to maximize the effects of teaching and
learning by achieving predefined learning outcomes. As opposed to outcome-based education,
“pedagogy of the event” is concerned with the unknown, and learning involves a
move into a new or modified ontological state. Within this paper, a philosophical basis
for the idea of threshold for learning process is outlined and some of the implications
on education are presented. We conclude with the notion that liminality in education,
as understood within the concept of pedagogy of the event, challenges normalizing and
disciplining educational practices by creating radical openness towards the unknown.
AB  - Autori rada nastoje da razmotre potencijal liminalnosti u sferi obrazovanja odraslih tako što je dovode u vezu sa postojećim konceptom „pedagogije događaja“. Ovaj koncept preispituje pedagoški imperativ postizanja unapred određenih ishoda učenja kako bi se ostvarila najveća delotvornost nastave i učenja. Za razliku od koncepta obrazovanja koje se zasniva na ishodima, „pedagogija događaja“ nastoji da prodre u nepoznato, a sam proces učenja podrazumeva iskorak u novo ili izmenjeno ontološko stanje. U ovom radu smo predstavili filozofsku osnovu za ideju granica procesa učenja, kao i određene implikacije po obrazovanje. U zaključku iznosimo stav da liminalnost u obrazovanju, kada je tumačimo shodno konceptu pedagogije događaja, postavlja izazov pred prakse obrazovanja koje imaju za cilj normalizaciju i disciplinu tako što stvara prostor za radikalnu otvorenost prema nepoznatom.

AB  - Misao o obrazovanju odraslih, kao važan dio filozofskih razmatranja, pronalazimo
kod skoro svih značajnih mislilaca antičke Grčke. Tako i Epikurova filozofska škola, odnosno „Vrt“, nudi sveobuhvatan i permanentan obrazovni proces, čiji se krajnji cilj ogleda u jednoj vrsti racionalno promišljenog i individualnog uživanja. U tekstu se iznosi istorijska analiza pojma hedonizma kroz prizmu shvatanja Aristipa i Platona, koja svoj konačan oblik dobija kod Epikura. Epikurejski obrazovni proces teži dostizanju uživanja koje se identifikuje sa mentalnom neuznemirenošću i odsustvom fizičkih bolova. Da bi se dostigao taj nivo, neophodno je sprovesti sistematičan i cjeloživotni obrazovni proces koji je ujedno relaksirajući i interesantan, kakvim ga je Epikur i smatrao.
AB  - Ideas on adult education, as an important part of philosophical deliberation, can be found in the work of almost all significant ancient Greek thinkers. In the same way, Epicurus’ philosophical school, i.e. his ‘Garden’, proffers an idea of a comprehensive and permanent educational process, whose end goal is found in a kind of rationally considered and individual pleasure. The paper provides a historical analysis of the concept of hedonism through a prism of Aristippus’ and Plato’s understanding, and as finally shaped by Epicurus. Epicurean educational process has an aim of achieving pleasure identified with mental tranquillity and the absence of physical pain. In order to achieve this, it is necessary to engage in a systematic and life-long educational process, which is, as Epicurus held, at once relaxing and interesting.

Epikurov moral i pravda

AB  - Tekst nudi osvrt na epikurejsku etiku analizirajući je više iz savremene perspektive, razmatrajući formalne uslove zahvaljujući kojima predstavlja etičku teoriju.  Pretpostavljajući da, makar djelimično, zadovoljava uslove koje postavljaju savremeni teoretičari, dalje se razmatra donekle nekonzistentna veza između individualno i egoistično shvatane etike s jedne, i svojevrsnog društvenog ugovora s druge strane. Epikur tvrdi da jedan takva ugovor mora biti poštovan da bi obezbijedio valjano funkcionisanje ljudi u zajednici. Izgleda nam da vođenje sopstvenog života oslanjajući se isključivo na lične preferencije i uživanja isključuje bilo kakvu potrebu za obraćanje pažnje na socijalne okolnosti. Insistiranje na prihvatanju i poštovanju sporazuma među pojedincima nam govori da, pored toga što obezbjeđuje suživot, epikurejska etika nije isključivo individualistička, te da su njeni zahtjevi za hedonizmom ograničeni upravo jednim takvim sporazumom. Ipak, tako formulisan (nerazvijeni i nepotpuni) kontraktarijanizam, iako primamljiv, nije dovoljan da obezbijedi potpuno i univerzalno poštovanje propisanih normi i pravila.
AB  - The paper gives us a short notice of Epicurean' ethics analyzed from contemporary perspective, considering formal conditions under whitch it is an ethical theory. Assuming that, at least partially, his theoriy meets the requirements set by modern theorists, our furher consideration is somewhat inconsistent connection between the individual and egoistic conceptions of ethins on the on side, and a kind of social contract on the other side. Epicurus argued that such an agreement must be respected if we want to ensure the proper functioning of people in community. It seems to us that the conduct of our onw lives relaying solely on personal preferences and enjoyment, excludes any need for consideration of social circumstances. Insisting on acceptance and respect the agreement among individuals tells us, in adition to providing coexistence, that the Epicureans' ethics is not purely individualistic and that the requirements for its hedonism are limited precisely by one such agreement. However, (underdeveloped and incomplete) contractarianism formulated on this way, although tempting, is not suficient to ensure completely and universal respect of prescribed norms and rules.

AB  - Epikurova epistemologija, koja potpuni kredibilitet daje opažanju, kao ključnom
faktoru i nepogrešivom izvoru dobijanja informacija o svijetu izvan nas je u potpunosti
zavisna od materijalističko-atomističkog pogleda na prirodnu nauku. Kao takva, fundamentalna
je zarad jasnijeg sagledavanja Epikurovih etičkih ideja. U radu se pokušava rekonstruisati

podvođenje Epikura pod izvjestan oblik indirektnog realizma omogućava, naizgled neprihvatljivoj
Epikurovoj teoriji opažanja, oblik koji može biti plauzibilan i prihvatljiv.
AB  - Epicurean epistemology, which gives perception full credibility as a key factor and an
infallible source of receiving information regarding the external world, is completely dependable
on materialist-atomistic view of natural science. As such, it is fundamental for a
clear understanding of Epicurus' ethical ideas. This paper seeks to reconstruct his position
and subsume it under one of the contemporary theories of perception, as an apologetic view
on Epicurus and his, at first glance, rigid standpoints. Insistence on the truth of all perceptions
is attempted to be alleviated and understood by modern perspective. Thus, classifying
Epicurean views of perception as a certain form of indirect realism provides to the seemingly
unacceptable Epicurus' theory of perception a shape which may be plausible and acceptable.
