AB - This research delves into microlearning, emphasizing its potential as a transformative tool in the digital age. It extends the theoretical foundations of microlearning, investigates evolving trends, provides practical examples, and discusses the implications associated with education. This is not only to contribute to the growing momentum of microlearning research but also to pave the way for future advancements. The study focuses on Scopus-indexed publications using a systematic review aligned with PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines and combined with bibliometric analysis. According to the analysis, there has been a noticeable increase in publications related to microlearning since 2015, highlighting a growing interest and contributions from scholars worldwide. The findings corroborate that microlearning is not just about providing learning material in small, easily digestible portions. Crucially, microlearning goes beyond the delivery of bite-sized content. Its flourishing research trajectory underscores its significance, especially for Generation Z and succeeding digitally native generations who are accustomed to smartphones, the Internet, and digital information. Hopefully, these findings offer valuable insights and serve as a reference for the education, government, business, and academic sectors to promote, design, and implement microlearning.

AB - A quantitative analysis was conducted on the tweets of 20 leading Serbian mass media outlets and their followers during the three months from January 1 to March 30, 2021. The analysis, that encompassed more than 1 million tweets, was conducted using (a) Twitter API, (b) the Serbian version of LIWC linguistic dictionary, and (c) additional statistical analyses. Analyses revealed that words related to affective processes (negative emotions), social processes (family and friends), perceptual processes (feel and hear), and personal concerns (work and religion) expressed in tweets of mass media were predictors of the same words in not necessarily related tweets of their followers. The research has shown that spread of psychological and linguistic patterns by media and social networking sites is not limited to negative emotions solely. This research highlights the significance of recommender systems, as they help to determine the content that social media users encounter on a personal level. The findings also indicate how we can address emerging and pressing issues that affect individuals' well-being and democratic capacity, such as echo chambers and polarization. The obtained findings are in line with the communication accommodation theory, emotional contagion theory and negativity bias. Limitations of the present research, future directions, and implications are discussed.

AB - The proliferation of fake news and misinformation in the digital era poses a significant challenge to news organizations and content creators. In this paper, we intro-duce the iTrust News Certificate, the architecture of an online blockchain-based solution designed to combat fake news, enhance news verification, and maintain reputation within the media ecosystem. Unlike previous attempts, iTrust News Certificate focuses on us-er-friendly features while ensuring transparency and reliability. By leveraging blockchain technology, iTrust News Certificate establishes a decentralized and immutable ledger for storing news-related metadata. This ledger ensures the integrity and traceability of news articles, making it extremely difficult for malicious actors to tamper with or propagate false information.

AB - There are many indications that weather conditions influence human life and well-being. Some of these indicators, such as the influence of weather on human health, have been explored in detail. On the other hand, the influence of daily fluctuations of different meteorological variables on the human psychological state still remains unknown. We apply combined methods from statistics, psychology, machine learning, and complex networks theory to explore the influence of weather parameters on different psychological categories of Twitter users in ten different countries. Our results show that the temperature, pressure, and humidity are highly correlated with Twitter users’ activity, sense, and affect. Our comparative analysis for different countries shows that the strongest correlation was found for the USA, Italy, and Portugal, indicating differences between countries. However, our results show that the level of activity of Twitter users, described as Post Count, is strongly connected to changes in temperature and humidity in all countries. We use complex networks theory to explore these connections and differences between countries further. Our findings suggest that weather parameters can be used to predict Twitter users’ activity and psychological manifestations, which can be beneficial to marketing and advertising.

AB - Metaverse technology is emerging as a global trend, offering virtual activities with real-world experiences. This paper presents a systematic review of research trends from 2012–2022 to determine the prevalence and current conditions of metaverse technology in education. The PRISMA framework (selected reporting items for systematic review and meta-analysis) guided this systematic review. 42 studies were selected from the Scopus database, with more than 70 studies or references from Google Scholar kept as supporting data after quality assessment. The results indicate that research interest in metaverse technology has significantly increased in the last ten years, peaking in 2022. Augmentation and simulation are the most prominent uses of metaverse technology in the learning process. C. Moro (2017) is the most cited author on this topic, with 313 citations, followed by P. Wang (2022) with 264 citations and P. Pelargos (2022) with 163 citations. AR and VR are the most widely used types of metaverse technology. Hopefully, this review will be useful for researchers, educators, and future research on the metaverse and education.

users to everything they see, hear and feel in real time. We examine the development
of recommender algorithms from t he Page Rank and advertising platforms to social
media trending tools to draw conclusions about their social effects. Decisions on how
to simplify the complex world around us into dozens of possibilities immensely affect
societies and individuals. Similar to our perceptive apparatus, algorithms are eyes and
ears in the online world, as they focus our attention towards what they „think” should be
important, which is similar to news priming. That is why recommender algorithms are
compared to mass media, given their similar roles to sell products and prolong content
exposure of online users. This inquiry concludes that AI driven recommender algorithms
represent the most powerful social force at present.

This inquiry concludes that AI driven recommender algorithms represent the most powerful social force at present. This indicates that recommender algorithms should be transparent to everyone and controlled by society as a public good. As recommender algorithms are usually based on artificial intelligence, human beings cannot see what's inside the black box, but should be able to set them for the benefit of individual and social well being. The fact that algorithms can be customized empowers societies to tackle the issues such as fake news, social polarization, echo chambers and spread of negative emotions, which ultimately affect individual well being and democratic capacity. Limitation of this inquiry is lack of quantitative analyisis. The main recommendations for further research is experiment on how much algorithms can predict our needs and wants.

addictions, as potential outcome of recommender systems, and it should be explored

AB - Times of uncertainty and fear were brought on by Covid-19. The ongoing
pandemic is a fruitful ground for fake news, as citizens try to find explanations
that fit into their worldviews. This process polarizes society and creates echo
chambers amplified by recommender systems. Our main goal is to detect antivaxxer
echo chambers in Serbia by analyzing online reactions to the recent detention
of prominent anti-vaxxer Dr. Jovana Stojkovic. A content analysis of online
comments is deployed in anti-regime left-leaning, anti-regime right-leaning, and
pro-government media to explore attitudes towards a vaccination conspiracy
theory, police action towards anti-vaxxers, and the government crisis response
team. We clearly identify the anti-vaccine echo chamber among commentators of
anti-regime right-leaning media (YouTube podcasts). Additionally, we describe
attitudes expressed around issues related to vaccination. Limitations and implications
for future research are discussed.

Metaverse through the prism of power and addiction: what will happen when the virtual world becomes more attractive than reality?

AB - New technologies are emerging at a fast pace without being properly analyzed in terms of their social impact or adequately regulated by societies. One of the biggest potentially disruptive technologies for the future is the metaverse, or the new Internet, which is being developed by leading tech companies. The idea is to create a virtual reality universe that would allow people to meet, socialize, work, play, entertain, and create. Methods coming from future studies are used to analyze expectations and narrative building around the metaverse. Additionally, it is examined how metaverse could shape the future relations of power and levels of media addiction in the society. Hype and disappointment dynamics created after the video presentation of meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg have been found to affect the present, especially in terms of certainty and designability. This idea is supported by a variety of data, including search engine n-grams, trends in the diffusion of NFT technology, indications of investment interest, stock value statistics, and so on. It has been found that discourse in the mentioned presentation of the metaverse contains elements of optimism, epochalism, and inventibility, which corresponds to the concept of future
essentialism. On the other hand, power relations in society, inquired through the prism of classical theorists, indicate that current trends in the concentration of power among Big Tech could expand even more if the metaverse becomes mainstream. Technology deployed by the metaverse may create an attractive environment that would mimic direct reality and further stimulate media addiction in society. It is proposed that future inquiries examine how virtual reality affects the psychology of individuals and groups, their creative capacity, and imagination. Also, virtual identity as a human right and recommender systems as a public good need to be considered in future theoretical and empirical endeavors.

globally interconnected world, which is based on big data and digital footprints of online
users. This paper analyses the transfer of power from societies to tech companies and algorithms
with the aim of examining whether recommender algorithms can be considered a
public good. Deployed methods include content analysis and literature reviews. The study
has found that control exercised over public opinion, decisions and moods of online users
is unprecedented to such a high degree in human history. The above-mentioned control
is based on the impact of both tech companies and algorithms. The limitation of this research
is the lack of quantitative analysis. Future research should concentrate on defining
recommender algorithms as a public good and analyzing how different media content,

AB - Whistleblowing cases that shook intelligence community in the last decade
have something in common. Edward Snowden, Bradley Manning, and Reality Winner are
all members of a single generation – Millennials. We challenge the viewpoint that depicts
this generation as а potential “insider threat.” Millennials do have certain psychological traits
and attitudes that can be related to tendencies towards whistleblowing, but these findings
still do not approve the rhetoric that creates distrust towards the generation. This paper
proposes a shift from the cultural to the socio-psychological level of analysis, with respect
to both cultural and individual characteristics of whistleblowers, but puts more emphasis
on the social dimension. In comprehending recent cases of leaking classified information,
it is not enough to reduce explanation to some individual personality traits or hide behind
an abstraction, such as the concept of generation. To shed more light on the issue, we
introduce the concept of the imagined community, such as the open source community,
promoting free Internet and transparency of information and knowledge. Therefore, mental
membership in an imagined community might be more decisive for blowing the whistle
than the global set of values related to the whole generation of Millennials.

AB - 5G is a critical sensitive technology that could endanger public safety. Recent progress of Huawei
in the number of patents relating to 5G caused a trade war over the issue, with multiple actions from the U.S.,
including restrictions towards Chinese companies. This paper seeks to explore the issue of 5G around global
security and the struggle for geopolitical dominance. Identified gap in the literature is related to the question if
there is a safe side in terms of choices that countries make around 5G vendors. Earlier studies have not considered this question appropriately in a comprehensive way, because of one sided look and policy approach. The second question attempts to find the best solution for countries to escape dominance of 5G vendors, ensure high safety and avoid potential hazards. To put 5G technology in context, we present geopolitical issues around a global information infrastructure, provide information into China’s 5G strategy and history of tech struggles between China and the United States (U.S.). We further present emerging geopolitical safety issues regarding 5G technology and elaborate Serbia’s geopolitical turmoil related to 5G. In conclusion we classify countries based on their position about this issue to the West, the East and the Neutral corpuses. The focus on Serbia and politics of 5G diversity is then examined to conclude that this geopolitical position of 5G Neutrality could be beneficial for the balanced world in which new technologies will be a base for multilateral dominance. This paper is limited in technical and legal analysis of the issue. Further research should propose encryption and quality control standards together with legal framework, to ensure diversity in social interest.

AB - The book describes our tech driven society as the Culture Organism, while the most significant social challenge is repression of the individual by corrupt social agents. This is connected to the appearance of light and mild addictions, discovered through quantitative inquiry, which is put into a wider context, identifying the outcomes as social polarizations, appearance of echo chambers, spread of misinformation and fake news, rise of populist leaders and decreased democratic capacity. Theories of anomie, alienation and mass society are presented as a basis for research. The nature of media is examined in the context of addiction intensity, leading to the conclusion that new media, such as smartphones, are more addictive than the older media. This may be because new media have more reality-mimicking features. The study concludes that AI recommender algorithms are the most powerful social force and a new mass media, as they decide which content to expose billions of people across the globe on an individual level. That is why AI recommender algorithms may be considered a public good.

AB - Accurately forming personality judgments is of vital importance in a wide range of social interactions. Although people are able to make fairly accurate personality judgments of others, recent technological advances in machine learning made computers better at predicting personality than humans. In this review, we will focus on computer-based personality judgments and their theoretical considerations and practical implications in politics. More precisely,
we will discuss (i) the use of social platforms and digital devices in collecting so-called digital footprints, (ii) personality traits that are assessed based on digital footprints, (iii) advantages and disadvantages of using computer-based personality judgments, (iv) persuasive communication based on digital footprints of personality traits, and lastly, (v) the matters of privacy and informed consent. With this review, we aim to provide a guide how to use computer- based personality judgment in a way to serve the public interest.

AB - Neuromarketing showed up as a new interdisciplinary field that bridges neuroscience and marketing. A relatively young field that was born within the “neuroculture” matrix is covered with a veil of mystery and often misrepresented in the media as a powerful tool used by corporations to manipulate consumers’ preferences, purchasing behavior, etc. In this paper, we have done an extensive literature review in order to put light on some dilemmas and take off the veil of mystery that surrounds neuromarketing. Firstly, (i) we discussed the definition and context in which neuromarketing emerged, (ii) important brain areas in consumer neuroscience which find their application in neuromarketing research, (iii) techniques used in neuromarketing (neuroimaging and nonneuroimaging), (iv) ethical issues in the field of neuromarketing (a part of neuroethics), and (v) limitations and recommendations for future development of neuromarketing.

Brain-Machine Interface: New Challenge for Humanity

AB - The aim of this paper is to clarify specific aspects of the impact of the brain-machine interface on our understanding of subjectivity. The brain-machine interface is presented as a phase of cyborgization of humans. Some projects in the field of brain-machine interface are aimed at enabling consensual telepathy – communication without symbolic mediation. Consensual telepathy refers to one of potential ways of transmission of information within singularity. Therefore, consensual telepathy is an important aspect of singularity. Singularity or human-machine symbiosis shows some similarities with child-mother unity. Therefore, the psychodynamic perspective might be considered useful in thinking about human-machine symbiosis. Knowledge from developmental psychodynamic psychology combined with insights by Slavoj Žižek and Jean Baudrillard provides an additional perspective looking at human-machine symbiosis. The paper claims that if consensual telepathy becomes another way of communication, it will have the potential to annihilate subjectivity making it schizophrenic. At the same time, we look at the possibility of an escape from our inner world through the prism of addictions.

AB - Transfer from social to semantic web brought us to an era of algorithmic
society, placing issues such as privacy, big data and AI in the spotlight. although neutral
by their nature, the power of big data algorithms to impact societies became major
concern outcoming with fines issued to Facebook in the US. These events were initiated
by alleged breaches of data privacy connected to recommender system technology,
which can provide individualized content to internet users. This paper seeks to explain
recommender systems, while elaborating on their social effects, to conclude that their
overall impacts might be increase in retail sales, democratization of advertising, increase
in internet addictions, social polarization (echo chamber issue), and improvement
of political communication. Also, more research should be deployed into low intensity
addictions, as potential outcome of recommender systems, and it should be explored
how they affect political participation and democracy.

society, placing issues such as privacy, big data and AI in the spotlight. although neutral
by their nature, the power of big data algorithms to impact societies became major
concern outcoming with fines issued to Facebook in the US.
Also, more research should be deployed into low intensity
addictions, as potential outcome of recommender systems, and it should be explored
how they affect political participation and democracy.",

AB - In the era of digitalization, digital data is available about every aspect of our daily lives,
including our physical and mental health. Digital data has been applied in the domain of healthcare
for the detection of an outbreak of infectious diseases, clinical decision support, personalized care, and genomics. This paper will serve as a review of the rapidly evolving field of digital health. More specifically, we will discuss (1) big data and physical health, (2) big data and mental health, (3) digital contact tracing during the COVID-19 pandemic, and finally, (4) ethical issues with using digital data for health-related purposes. With this review, we aim to stimulate a public debate on the appropriate usage of digital data in the health sector.

AB - Social media are becoming an indispensable communication tool today, including political communication. Therefore, technological companies running them have a great power. Every intervention they have in the public sphere may have far-reach-ing consequences. We will focus on two cases of the influence of technological companies on media, election and legislative processes as basic factors of democracy. We will consider the implications of the prohibition of Donald Trump’s use of Twitter, as well as the conflict of Australia’s media policy with Facebook and Google. We have reached the conclusion that in these cases technological companies took over the power that used to belong to the judicial and legislative branch of power, in terms of defining what hate speech, as well as media regulation is. Accordingly, this threatens the information system and sovereignty of the countries where these interventions are made. These events indicate that the world is entering a period of domination of technological companies, which may be called tech-nocracy or technofeudalism. Further considerations should be directed towards defining social media as a public good that should be influenced by societies and not only techno-logical companies as the owners of these communication platforms.

AB - We conducted quantitative psychometric analysis on Twitter posts of 20 leading Serbian media in duration of three months. On the other side, we did the same kind of processing for their followers, including more than half million of tweets. The analysis has been done using Twitter API on posts data from 24 October until 30 January of 2019, Serbian LIWC psychometric dictionary and further statistical processing. We discovered that language used by media differs according to their nature and contents they produce. At the same time we found that categories and words related to family, feel, sex, spirituality, negative emotions and work, expressed in posts of media, are predictors for tweets of their followers. This actually means that if media reports consist of these elements, they will reflect in language of their followers. Thus, impact of media on their audiences is clearly registered in the language of Twitter users. Such findings confirm the power of media and indicate how important it is to carefully choose media contents that are consumed, having in mind of various potential hazards, including media addiction. Results align with emotional contagion theory. This research was the first one to indicate various psychometric categories could spread on social media, beyond solely emotions. This research is limited to assessment of media impact in one country. The study indicates it would be important to focus further research on negative news and how they affect multiple societies and groups of people and establish live Media Negativity Index on global level.

AB - Times of uncertainty and fear were brought by Covid 19. Ongoing pandemic is a fruitful ground for fake news, as citizens try to find explanations that fit into their worldviews. This process polarizes society and creates echo chambers amplified by recommender systems. Our main goal is to detect anti-vaxxer echo chamber in Serbia by analyzing online reactions to recent arrest of prominent anti-vaxxer dr Jovana Stojkovic. Content analysis of online comments is deployed in anti-regime left, anti-regime right and pro government media to explore attitudes towards vaccination conspiracy theory, police action towards anti-vaxxers and government crisis response team. We clearly distinguish anti vaccine echo chamber among commentators of anti regime right media (Youtube podcasts). Additionally, we describe attitudes expressed around issues related to vaccination. Limitation of this inquiry is lack of quantitative analysis. This is recommended for further research, in order to analyze greater number of comments. Additionally, scientists should explore echo chambers in more detail, given the fact they stand as realistic threat to democracy in future.

social media as a public good that should be influenced by societies and not only technological companies as the owners of these communication platforms.",

AB - State represents a social phenomenon which is constantly changing – just
like all political actors. The direction of that evolution is determined by the development
and current state of the art in technological domain. That explains how the rise of social
media and new ICTs has shaped the contemporary political communication. This paper
sheds light on the manner in which digital tools are exploited in an unpredictable social
ambience which is characterized by numerous political crises. Special attention has been
given to the phenomenon of digital astroturfing and political disinformation trends in Venezuela
and Brazil. We have found that the dynamic technological development combined
with the use of political bots has been creating the potential for fake news, thus impacting
election processes and endangering democracy. Therefore, these phenomena need further
scientific examination.
