Argument Tome Akvinskog za realnu razliku između esse i essentia na osnovi sudjelovanja

AB  - Tekst analizira argument Tome Akvinskog za realnu razliku između bitka i bîti na osnovu sudjelovanja u bitku samom, koristeći prije svega Izlaganje Boetijevog djela O sedmicama. U tekstu se brani teza da je za dokazivanje realne razlike neophodno prethodno pretpostaviti postojanje ipsum esse subsistensa, odnosno Boga. U prvom dijelu teksta objašnjava se
Tomino tumačenje Boetijeva teksta u kontekstu razumske razlike između pojmova bitka i bîti, kao i apstraktan i konkretan način označavanja. Drugi dio teksta posvećen je Tominoj reinterpretaciji Boetijeva izraza forma essendi kao actus essendi. Treći dio teksta razmatra argument za realnu razliku s obzirom na jednostavnost i jedinstvenost ipsum esse subsistensa.
Ukazuje se na Tominu kritiku platoničkih formi i pokazuje neophodnost dokaza za postojanje ipsum esse subsistensa kao uvjeta za dokaz za realnu razliku. Na kraju, u zaključku je rezimiran argumentativni tijek za realnu razliku na osnovu Tominog Izlaganja Boetijevog djela O sedmicama.
AB  - The article analyzes Aquinas’s participation argument for the real distinction between esse and essentia using his Expositio libri Boetii De hebdomadibus. The article defends the view that in order to prove the real distinction one has to assume or prove the existence of ipsum esse subsistens, i.e. God. In the first chapter Aquinas’ interpretation of Boethius’s texts is expounded
against the background of the rational distinction between the notions of esse and essentia, and the abstract and the concrete way of signifying. The second chapter points to Aquinas’s reinterpretation of Boethius’s term forma essendi as actus essendi. The third chapter is dedicated to the argument for the real distinction against the background of simplicity and unicity of ipsum esse subsistens, to Thomas’s critique of Platonic forms, as well as to the necessity for the proof for the existence of ipsum esse subsistens as a condition for the proof for the real distinction. In conclusion the whole argument from the Expositio libri Boetii De hebdomadibus is summarized.

AB  - Članak analizira Akvinčeve argumente za realnu razliku između suštine i bivstvovanja (esse) izložene u poglavljima 52-54 druge knjige Sume protiv pagana u širem kontekstu njegove metafizike. Prvo se analiziraju određenja samog Boga na osnovu realne razlike (Ipsum esse subsistens, tvorac, beskonačna savršenost), a potom uloga kategorija akta i potencije, primarnosti akta, odvajanje akta od forme u Tominom razumevanju bivstvovanja, kao i pojam egzistencijalnog učestvovanja; pritom se ukazuje na temeljnu razliku između odgovarajućih razumevanja tih kategorija kod Platona i Aristotela, sjedne strane, i Tome Akvinskog, s druge. Na kraju se analizira uloga dve vrste uzročnosti, delotvorne i formalne, u realnoj razlici.

AB  - U danas već klasičnom tekstu iz 1958. godine posvećenom dvostrukom karakteru Tominog koncepta bivstvovanja, Džozef Ovens jasno formuliše dve sapripadne osobine bivstvovanja (esse) koje su delatne u Akvinčevoj metafizici, naime 1) bivstvovanje razumevano u terminima suštine, forme ili prirode, kao esencijalno, i 2) bivstvovanje razumevano kao akcidentalno, ne u kategorijalnom smislu, već u smislu da se nalazi izvan suštine stvari. Čvrsto se oslanjajući na celokupan Ovensov rad pokušaću da skiciram načine razumevanja značenja bivstvovanja za Tomu Akvinskog, jer a) akcidentalni i esencijalni karakter bivstvovanja predstavljaju dva aspekta stvorenog bivstvovanja, b) koje je realno različito od suštine.
AB  - In now classical article from 1958 dedicated to twofold character of Aquinas’s concept of being Joseph Owens clearly formulates the two complementary features of esse that function in Aquinas’s metaphysics, namely 1) being understood in the terms of essence, form or nature, as essential and 2) being understood as accidental, not in predicamental meaning but as something above and beyond the essence of the thing. Firmly relying on whole Owens’s work, I will try to outline the ways of understanding the meanings of esse in Aquinas, because a) two character of being are two complementary and integral components of created being, b) which are really different.

Pojam stvari (res) kod Dekarta

AB  - U tekstu se analizira značenje pojma res u Dekartovoj metafizici. Kao osnovno, navedeno je značenje pojma stvari kao suštine koja može i re- alno egzistirati. Analizom Dekartovih tekstova to je značenje precizirano s obzirom na razumsku razliku između suštine i egzistencije. Pokazan je odnos stvari prema pojmovima stvarnosti (realitas), stupnjevima stvarnosti i mo- dusima stvarnosti. Poseban deo posvećen je odnosu stvari i uzročnosti, tome šta i kako stvari mogu uzrokovati i tome šta uzrokuje stvari, te se ukazuje na povezanost ovog problema s Dekartovim učenjem o stvorenosti večnih istina. Ta povezanost predstavlja osnovnu razliku između Dekartovog i sholastičkog pojma stvari i ona se jasno vidi u njegovom pojmu uzrokovanja stupnjeva stvarnosti. Na kraju je ukratko izložen i supertranscendentalni pojam stvari kod Dekarta, na njegovom kasnosholastičkom zaleđu.

Platonism, Cartesianism and Hegel's Thought in The Matrix Trilogy

AB  - In this article I will try to interpret changes in Neo, the main
character in The Matrix Trilogy, against the background of the ideas of Plato
and Descartes, as well as Hegel’s from his Philosophy of History and The
Phenomenology of Spirit. Although “philosophical” The Matrix Trilogy is
not long-winded and boring film: instead of talking endlessly, the characters
are working ceaselessly, and that work is changing them. Contrary to widespread
opinion, this interpretation does not find the presence of Descartes’
hyperbolic doubt in the first part of trilogy, but first film sees as a pure Platonism.
Nevertheless, there are the Cartesian motifs (e.g. dualism, freeing
mind from preconceived opinions, acquiring different habits of belief). The
result of the first film is the position of Hegelian unhappy consciousness.
This is just a preparation for the key moment of whole Trilogy that is the
dialogue between Neo and Architect. Neo’s decision to chose to save Trinity
is interpreted in Hegel’s terms of the infinite right of the subject to satisfy
himself in his activity and work; because of that, this, sixth Neo is new. After
showing the differences in the objectives of Neo and Agent Smith, and transformations
of the objectives of humans, the third part of the article analyzes
the very end of the Matrix Revolutions, using Marx’s ideas, with some references
to Plato and Nietzsche.

Germany’s Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe. Debates and Reactions

AB  - The article outlines the history of the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe in Berlin as a very good example of how long any such procedure is, from idea to realisation, as well as how strong the debate how and whom to commemorate.. Federal Foundation Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe also supervised Memorial to the Murdered Sinti and Roma, Memorial to the Homosexuals Persecuted under the National Socialist Regime and the Memorial to mass murder of patients from mental hospitals. Besides that, the author analyzes the initiatives and sollutions for other monuments in Germany’s capital New Guard Room, as well as the Concentration Camp Sachsenhausen near Berlin.

AB  - The article analyzes the peculiarities of the destruction of Serbian Jews during Second Wolrd War in the local and European context. Of all the sites in Serbia relevant to the destruction of the Serbian Jews, Sajmiste is the most important. After the consideration of the attitude of Germans and Nedic’s regime toward Jews and “Gypsies” in the context of the Final Solution, the author highlights that the Sajmiste internment camp was transformed into a local death camp—the only such site outside the territories of Poland and the Soviet Union. Serbia was the one country outside Poland and the Soviet Union where all Jewish victims were killed on the spot without deportation. It was the first country after Estonia to be declared “judenfrei.” Moreover, in Serbia the German army was not only complicit in the Holocaust but was in fact the main instigator and executioner in the killing of the Jewish men. For this reason, in particular, Sajmiste is a unique site for Holocaust remembrance not only in the Serbian but also in the European context.

AB  - By analyzing the role of the family in the process of inter/transgenerational inheritance of trauma and memory (remembrance), the paper is an attempt at providing an answer to how the un-experienced past affects the lives of the descendants of the direct perpetrators and victims of the Holocaust, or rather, how it affects the identity forming of the so-called postgeneration. As the temporal distance from the Second World War increases, and as the number of those with immediate experiences and memories decreases, the expressions like memory and remembrance begin to lose their conventional meaning. As the research shows, even with the lack of first-hand experience, the descendents of those who survived mass traumatic events are subjectively deeply attached to the memory of the previous generation (so much so that they label that attachment as remembrance, and they feel their parents’ traumas as their own). Given the fact that it is not possible to physically transfer the trauma and memory to descendants, the paper analyzes and compares the terminology that the professional literature has adopted so far, i.e. secondary traumatization (in case of a child), tertian traumatization (in case of a grandchild), as well as echoes of the trauma and postmemory. The main thesis of this paper is that echoes of the memory and echoes of the trauma cause the so-called identity crisis of the Holocaust postgeneration, that is, only facing the past leads to postgeneration’s coming to terms with it.

AB  - The article discusses the reasons for the construction, in the 1960s, of a memorial to the victims of the former camp Jasenovac in Yugoslavia, although no such memorial was built at the Sajmište site. How should we explain and understand this difference and what do these two sites stand for in Yugoslav discourses about the past? I will argue that the memorial project for Jasenovac was, due to certain developments, seen as a substitute for similar plans at nearly all the former camp locations in Yugoslavia. Because of this substitution, after the mid 1960s none of the other concetration camp sites in the country benefited from federal financing and thus all of them were excluded from having a real chance at being made into a proper memorial site.

AB  - Der Beitrag prüft zunächst, inwiefern beim frühen Heidegger (vor Sein und Zeit) eine Verschiebung des Schwerpunktes von dem umweltlichen Charakter der Erlebnisse auf das ‚faktisch‘ daseiende Leben bzw. auf das Phänomen ‚Ich bin‘ zu beobachten ist. Es gilt, den Seinssinn vom ‚Ich bin‘ zu fassen und zwar, indem der Unterschied der Selbsterfahrung zum reflexiv-theoretischen Einstellung bestimmt wird. Diese Bestimmung soll von allen Regions – und Sachgebietsfremdheiten ferngehalten werden. Die Individuation des ‚Ich bin‘ soll nicht als Vereinzelung im Hinblick auf das Allgemeine, sondern als das historische Vereinzelung gefasst werden. Der Seinssinn als Existenzsinn ist in der Eigenerfahrung zu fassen und hat einen Vollzugscharakter. Die Grunderfahrung des Selbst bzw. die Geschichtlichkeit des Vollzuugscharakters des Selbst werden in ein neues grundlegendes Verhältnis zu Apriorität gesetzt. Die zentrale Rolle kommt dabei der Destruktion des historischen Horizontes des Aprioriproblems, worunter eine Radikalisierung der Phänomenologie zu verstehen ist, die versucht, die eigene Geschichtlichkeit bzw. geschichtliche Situation immer ursprünglicher zu vollziehen. Es wird die inhaltliche Struktur des Aprioriproblems geklärt, indem die Geschichte des Aprioriauffassungen nach dem Grad ihrer Daseinsimmanenz bestimmt werden. Die Destruktion des Aprioriproblems wird an den rekonstruktiven Psychologie Paul Natorps und der Kritik der historischen Vernunft Wilhelm Diltheys versucht, wobei diesen die Verdinglichung der Sphäre des Lebendigen vorgeworfen wird.

AB  - Using the representations of science, fiction and science fiction, this article attempts to sketch out a certain line of development in the history of representation of the enhanced human. First it was thought that chemicals could temporarily or permanently improve his natural abilities, then artificial substitutes, inserts and accessories dominated the vision of his improvement. The most recent possibility announced is the fundamental morphological transformation of his biological composition into a completely unrecognizable, amorphous “entity” capable of taking any form. This trajectory of “improvement” of human capacities could be regarded as a gradual advancement in the realization of the pledge of traditional humanism: that man is special precisely for being able to become anything he chooses.

AB  - The paper explores Latour’s conception of political ecology and its theoretical and political 
implications. The first part of the paper shows Latour’s critique of theoretical frameworks 
of scientific and political practices, which, in his opinion, constrain a true discussion on 
ecological crises by simplifying them and putting them into readymade interpretative 
models. The second part of the paper examines the notions – the collective, representation, 
propositions, articulation, and parliament of things – central to understanding Latour’s 
idea of involvement of humans and non-humans in politics. Finally, the paper explores the 
potentials and constraints of Latour’s idea of political community of new political subjects 
(hybrid entities), which is constituted in controversies and through controversies.

AB  - Heideggersche erste Bewegungen in Richtung auf die Fundamentalontologie lassen sich in seinen Vorlesungen der frühen 20er Jahren beobachten. Heidegger versucht darin, sich von dem Logizismus der Husserlschen Bewusstseinsphilosophie zu emanzipieren, indem er ein Konzept der Urwissenschaft entwirft. Die Urwissenschaft soll bei der vortheoretischen Erfahrung, d. h. bei den vorreflexiven Erlebnissen ansetzen. Sie hat der entlebenden Tendenz der theoretischen Einstellung zum Erlebnisstrom entgegenzuwirken und somit die Voraussetzungen dafür zu schaffen, eine Vielfalt der lebendigen Erfahrungsweisen zum ausdrücklichen Verstehen zu bringen. Somit knüpft die Urwissenschaft an das Programm der Phänomenologie von Edmund Husserl, modifiziert es aber entscheidend, indem es aus der Sphäre des Bewusstseins in jene des lebendigen Erlebnisstroms verlegt.

AB  - Each of us makes a number of decisions, from the less important to those with far-reaching consequences. As members of different groups, we are also actors of group decision making. In order to make a rational decision, a choice-making procedure must satisfy a number of assumptions (conditions) of rationality. In addition, when it comes to group decisions, those procedures should also be “fair.” However, it is not possible to define a procedure of choice-making that would transform individual orders of alternatives based on preferences of perfectly rational individuals into a single social order and still meet conditions of rationality and ethics. The theory of deliberative democracy appeared in response to the impossibility of Social Choice theory. The basic assumption of deliberative democracy is that individuals adjust their preferences taking into account interests of the community. They are open for discussion with other group members and are willing to change their attitudes in order to achieve common interests. Ideally, group members come to an agreement during public discussion (deliberation). Still, this concept cannot completely overcome all the difficulties posed by the theory of social choice. Specifically, there is no solution for strategic and manipulative behavior of individuals. Also, the concept of deliberative democracy faces certain problems particular to this approach, such as, to name but a few, problems with the establishment of equality of participants in the debate and their motivation, as well as problems with the organization of public hearings.

AB  - Der folgende Text gehört zur kritischen Thanatologie. In allen bekannten Kulturen wurden Normen für den guten und den schlechten Tod von der herrschenden normativen Thanatologien aufgestellt und Kontrollmechanismen installiert. Prämortales und postmortales soziales Sterben ist eine Art der Exklusion der Anderen und wird unterschiedlich bestimmt: als damnatio memoriae, atlantische Sklaventum, Randständigkeit, Isolation oder als Rollenverlust. Das soziale Tod hat einen Klassenaspekt, als den ganzen Klassen Gedächtnis entnommen wurde. Hier werden nur einige Arten und Beispilen des sozialen Mord kritisch erörtert: damnatio memoriae, politische Mord und Sklaventum. Es handelt sich um die institutionelle Verarbeitung und Kodierung von Sterben und Tod durch Staat, Religion und Politik. In der Geschichte sind verschieden Völkern und Klasssen einem intensiveren sozialen Sterbeprozess und der sozialen Tötung unterworfen. Mit Identitätszerstörung der Beherrschten ist das soziale mit dem physischen Sterben harmonischer zu verbinden. Es ist auch auf die Differenz zwischen sozialen und politischen Tötung hingewiesen. Am Ende sind einige Aspekte der heutigen geheimen Tötung erwähnt.

AB  - The text begins with the analysis of two terms regarding life crucial to 
both Wittgenstein's early and late philosophy. These are life form and nature, 
specifically, human nature. Wittgenstein treats both concepts in a very specific 
manner, different from the traditional approach of philosophy. He also criticized 
philosophical attempts to attribute special characteristics to human intellectual 
abilities which would separate them from natural processes. A particular 'spiritual' 
status of epistemic and other rational powers disappears when there is an insight 
into their dependence on discursive practices and specific forms of life on which 
these powers are based. Concepts such as certainty, knowledge, or explanations 
do not rest on a rational foundation, that is, they do not refer to processes with 
particular un-natural properties. Nor can they be reduced to neuro-physiological 
processes, either. Instead, it is a specific grammar of their usage that makes them 
different from other concepts describing physical or biological processes. In that 
sense, Wittgenstein develops a non-reductionist version of naturalism which 
preserves the diversity of human relations in the world.

AB  - Pilgrimage is an ancient form of religious expression, inherent in almost every confession. 
Modern pilgrimage differs from past pilgrim travels in various attributes. Pilgrimages contribute 
to the tourism development because they affect interreligious and international communication. 
In the first place, significance and topicality of the subject is explained, and basic concepts 
are defined (pilgrimage, religious tourism, contemporary pilgrim). After that, a theoretical 
and methodological framework has been provided. Research relays to religious and ethical 
„mixed“ pilgrimages and also includes Orthodox chancels: St. Petka’s chapel in Kalemegdan 
and Madonna of Đunis monastery and catholic chancel Madonna of Tekije near Petrovaradin. 
These places are visited regardless of the visitor's faith. In depth interviews were conducted in 
2007 in Belgrade, and the sample consisted of 25 Orthodox and 25 Catholic interviewees. We 
were monitoring religiosity of pilgrims through time by using three categories: upbringing, 
conversion, and self-assessment of religiosity. Regarding the category of upbringing, three 
groups were identified: those with a traditional religious formation, an irreligious formation, and 
those from devotional families. According to the self-assessement of religiosity, the following 
typology was formed: assured and practical believer, missionary, and traditionalist. We noticed 
three straight lines in believers’ religious life: progression, stagnation and regression. The results 
of this exploration confirm that family influence on examinees’ religiosity is strong, but the key 
category for progression in their religious lives is conversion understood as a dynamic category.

AB  - The article traces possible channels of influence of a religious factor on the formation 
of a specific Russian version of socialism. Using the logics of the M. Weber’s work 
“The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism”, I. Zabaev reveals the categories 
that played a dominating role in the people’s consciousness in the pre-revolutionary 
Russia. According to his conclusion, these categories were “obedience” and 
“resignation”. It was obedience and resignation that assured the salvation (main value 
in Orthodoxy) of an Orthodox person. In everyday life such orientations were easily 
transformed into the readiness to obey the “superior”. Once elaborated, they turned 
to be quite stable and, being separated from their religious roots, ensured a sort of 
asceticism on the secular path.

AB  - Zwei Philosophen, denen Kant am meisten zu verdanken hat, wie man mit dem Recht nimmt, sind Hume und Rousseau. Während man über den Hume´s Einfluss einfach und eindeutig antworten kann, ist es mit dem Rousseau´s Einfluss viel mehr kompliziert. Der Haupteinfluss auf Kant hat Rousseau in der Ethik und auf der Ansicht der Menschen gemacht, deshalb es einen Anfangspunkt ist, durch welchem die Antwort auf diese Frage gesucht wird. Nach dieser Analyse wird eine einfache und eindeutige Antwort zu geben versucht, die ähnlich wie diese, die man auf dem Hume´s Einfluss geben kann, ist: welchen Einfluss hat Rousseau auf dem ganzen Kritische System gemacht.

AB  - In diesem Aufsatz werden ontologische Ansätze und Folgen von Russeauschen Freiheitsgedanken – die in seinen Schriften oft im Hintergrund bleiben – zum Ausdruck gebracht und entwickelt. Nachdrücklich wird ein ontolologischer Aspekt der Russeauschen Radikalität hervorgehoben, in dem ein Bruch mit der Naturbande, ein sogenannter Ausgang aus dem Naturzustand und Schliessen des Gesellschaftsvertrags untrennbar von seiner Auffassung der Freiheit, Gleichheit und politischen Handeln zu verstehen ist. Es stellt sich heraus, dass die völlige Entäusserung zum radikalen Bruch mit der Natur führt. Ein unnotwendiges Auftauchen des allgemeinen Willens, wie auch Entstehung der Freiheit qua Selbstgesetzgebung wird als Ereignis der Politik ausgelegt, derer bedingung und Gesetz allgemeine Gleichheit ist.
